How can I connect my Nikon Coolpix 990 to my laptop with Windows XP? Nikon view 3.1.1 doesn’t work. Nikon says Nikon view 4 should work under XP with problems but they don’t say where to get it.
We obtained an official response from Nikon from Adi and he also came up with his own solution, later:
dp-now.com: I don’t know where you are, but the European position with Nikon is officially as follows:
“At the moment we do not have Windows XP drivers. Our latest cameras E775, 885 & 995 are supported by the built in software Windows XP has for digital cameras. We anticipate XP drivers to support all USB Coolpixes within the next month or so. They will be posted as soon as available on www.nikon-euro.com.”
So my advice is to get a card reader in the mean time.
Adi then replied:
Thanks again, by the way I found how to make Nikon View 3.11 work under Windows XP:
1) Install Nikon View 3.11 2) Connect camera to computer (USB) 3) Go to "Add Hardware" in Control Panel 4) Click on the Nikon camera in the list of hardware 5) Select to choose software by yourself 6) Choose "inf" in Nikon View 3.11 an let it install 7) May be the camera will not be auto-detected so go to Nikon View in your start programs.
It’s good to get a solution back! [Back to top of the page] |
